A Deeside-based hair and beauty salon has expanded into larger premises, which now include a bespoke training area for NVQ apprentices.

The move has been supported by Flintshire County Council’s Town Centre Investment Programme.

This programme aims to upgrade and improve commercial properties across town centres in Flintshire through a grant scheme.

The UK Government has supported towns in Flintshire through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).

Sara King, from Rhuddlan, first launched her salon in 1999. After years of growth, she has now moved Kings—formerly Oasis Hair & Beauty—into a 1,894 sqft premises on Station Road, Queensferry.

In addition to the salon, Sara’s training academy, The Kings Academy, will also move into the new space.

Established in 2019, the academy provides alternative education for students across North Wales, working with local high schools to offer career opportunities in hair and beauty.

The academy has already helped over 100 young people find a career path.

With the help of the council grant, an extra 968 sqft of space is being developed to house a classroom and practical training area.

Sara said of the expansion:

“After 22 years in business, this move has been one of the most exciting moments for us. Doubling the size of our original premises, which was just over the road from our new space, we’ve been thrilled to see our customers’ reactions to the fully refurbished salon. We now can’t wait to get our academy space open too.”

“We simply couldn’t be doing this without the support from the Flintshire Town Centre Investment Programme, which has ensured we’re able to continue with our training academy, providing crucial education alternatives for young people in the area.”

The new Kings salon features 15 styling stations, a brow and lash bar, beauty and makeup artistry, and three treatment rooms offering massages, facials, and a Japanese Head Spa treatment.

The business currently employs 17 local staff.

The salon and academy are now based at 13-17 Station Road, Deeside.
