gap Connah’s Quay’s club photographer has scooped this year Welsh Premier League Photo of the Season award.

Nik Mesney’s photo of the team celebrating their historic play-off win over Flintshire rivals Airbus in May impressed the judges ahead of strong competition.

The winning picture captures the moment the players lift the trophy after beating Airbus 1-0 in front of a record breaking crowd of 904 at the Deeside stadium.

The historic win secured UEFA Europa League qualification the first time in the clubs history.

The Winning Picture by Nik Mesney

Nik picked up his award at the Welsh Premier League annual awards dinner last Saturday held at St David’s Park Hotel Ewloe.

A delighted Nik told Deeside.com:

“I’m thrilled to have won this award having come so close last season and missing out on the night.  I was constantly thinking throughout the season, is that the one? whenever I’d taken a good photo, but on that final day against Airbus, I had a feeling that if the result went our way that I might be able to capture something perfect.  As it happened, we won and I made sure to get myself in the ideal position to capture the lifting of the trophy – I was actually hanging off the edge of the stairs on the stand at Deeside Stadium, so it perhaps wasn’t the safest option, but it was worth it!”
