Witnesses sought after assaults at Chester races

Police are appealing for witnesses after three men were assaulted during an incident at Chester Racecourse.

The assaults took place at around 5pm on Saturday 31 May, during an altercation involving two other men.

The victims, aged 56, 33 and 42, were assaulted, with the 56-year-old man sustaining serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital and is now recovering at home.

Detective Constable Craig Logan said: “I’d urge anyone who was at the races that day and witnessed the incident to contact us so that we can progress with our enquiries.”

Two men, aged 27 and 49, from the Middleton area, have been arrested in connection with the incident and have since been bailed.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the Cheshire Police website, quoting incident number IML2101479.
