Want a say on the new A494 River Dee crossing? Here’s your chance

Residents are being urged to take part in the consultation on plans to build a replacement A494 River Dee Bridge.
The Welsh Government has published draft Orders setting out the details of the £144 million scheme, including land required, road changes and the chosen route for the new crossing.
The public can respond by formally supporting or objecting to the proposals, or by suggesting alternatives. The consultation opened on Tuesday 30 September and runs until Tuesday 11 November 2025.
The scheme would see a new bridge built about 15 metres southeast of the existing 1960s crossing at Queensferry. It would carry two lanes of traffic in each direction and include a shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists.
Other works include up to 3 kilometres of new and improved walking and cycling routes, a new underbridge through the North Wales Coast Railway embankment, drainage upgrades, a new junction serving the Riverside area, and environmental measures such as wildflower verges and woodland planting.
Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales, Ken Skates, has encouraged people to get involved, saying:
“I urge local people and people who use the bridge on a regular basis to take part in the consultation and have their say – we will listen carefully to people’s views.”
Public exhibitions will take place on Tuesday 22 October at Ty Calon, Queensferry Campus, Chester Road West, from 10am to 6pm, and on Wednesday 29 October at St Andrew’s Church and Community Hub, Sealand Avenue, Garden City, from 10am to 6pm. Draft Orders and supporting documents will be available to view at both events.
Responses should be sent to the Orders Branch, Transport, Welsh Government, Cathays Park, Cardiff, CF10 3NQ, or by email to [email protected] quoting references qA2280938 and qA2282120.
