Theatr Clwyd and William Aston Hall announce August event line-up

As Wrexham welcomes the National Eisteddfod this August, Theatr Clwyd and William Aston Hall are hosting a range of events for all ages.
Theatr Clwyd, together with Theatr Cymru, presents Wrecslam! from 4 to 7 August, featuring four short plays inspired by North-East Wales. The family-friendly Mewn Gwlad Bellennig runs from 5 to 7 August, telling stories of sassy sisters, a wicked wizard, and a large talking bear.
Theatr Clwyd is also offering talks including Sesiwn Gymorth: Gweithio ym Myd y Theatr on 8 August, an informal discussion with advice on working in the arts. On the same day, Sgwrs Banel – Ein Hadeilad Eco-gyfeillgar explores Theatr Clwyd’s new eco-friendly building, with chef Bryn Williams discussing his new restaurant.
William Aston Hall features Noson Y Wal Goch on 7 August, perfect for Welsh football fans, with performances of Yws Gwynedd’s “Ni Fydd Wal” (Euro 2020 anthem), Candelas’ “Rhedeg i Paris” (Euro 2016 anthem), and the Tara Bandito.
On 8 August, Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals performs new Welsh songs with support from Griff Lynch, Wrkhouse, and Ynys at Noson gyda Gruff Rhys a’r Band.
The festival closes with Parti Cloi’r Eisteddfod on 9 August, featuring Blodau Papur, Alys Williams, Osian and Branwen Williams, Dafydd Huws, Aled Huws, Mark Roberts from Catatonia, and Bob Delyn a’r Ebillion.
Later in the month, the National Youth Brass Band of Wales performs on 21 August, including pieces by Jordan Ashman, the 2022 BBC Young Musician of the Year.
Susie Dent, co-presenter of Countdown and Dictionary Corner expert, brings her Word Perfect tour to Theatr Clwyd on 23 August, sharing new stories from the world of words.
Families can enjoy Dino Tales on 30 August, an adventure featuring Europe’s largest walking dinosaurs on stage.
Throughout August, Theatr Clwyd hosts two comedy club nights on 4 and 31 August. Performers include Stephen Bailey, Peter Brush, Kent Cameron, Karen Bayley, Lou Conran, Howard Anstock, Louise Leigh, and Harry Stachini. Tickets start at £10.
