Staff shortages lead to October closures at Flintshire Connects Centres

Flintshire County Council has confirmed that several of its Connects Centres will be closed on selected dates throughout October due to significant staff shortages.

The council has apologised for any inconvenience caused and advised residents to check local opening hours before travelling to a centre.

Flintshire Connects provides face-to-face access to council services for residents who find it difficult to access support online or by phone.

The service also works in partnership with North Wales Police, Jobcentre Plus and other agencies to deliver advice and assistance on a wide range of issues including benefits, blue badges, social services referrals and digital support.

A council spokesperson said Flintshire Connects Centres are also currently out of radar keys used for accessible toilets and facilities.

Closure dates for October are as follows:

Buckley Connects – The Precinct, CH7 2EF
Closed Wednesday 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 October.
Usual opening: Tuesday to Thursday, 9am to 4:30pm.

Connah’s Quay Connects – Wepre Drive, CH5 4HA
Closed Wednesday 1, 8, Monday 13, Wednesday 15, 22, 29 and Thursday 30 October.
Usual opening: Monday to Friday, 9am to 4:30pm.

Flint Connects – Church Street, CH6 5BD
Closed Tuesday 30 September; Thursday 2, Tuesday 7, Thursday 9, Tuesday 14, Thursday 16, Tuesday 21, Thursday 23, Monday 27, Tuesday 28 and Thursday 30 October.
Usual opening: Monday to Friday, 9am to 4:30pm.

Holywell Connects – Old Town Hall, CH8 7TD
Closed Friday 26 and Monday 29 September; Friday 3, Monday 6, Friday 10, Monday 13, Wednesday 15, Friday 17, Monday 20, Friday 24, Monday 27, Wednesday 29 and Friday 31 October.
Usual opening: Monday to Friday, 9am to 4:30pm.

Mold Connects – Mold Library, CH7 1AP
Closed Friday 26 September and Fridays 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 October.
Usual opening: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9am to 4:30pm.

The council said services will resume as normal on non-closure days, and residents are encouraged to use online services where possible.

Flintshire Connects Centres continue to provide access to key local services including:

Council Tax and benefits advice

Blue Badge applications

Highways and Streetscene queries

Social services and environmental referrals

Concessionary travel

Payments and general enquiries

Further updates on Connects Centre operations are expected to be published on the council’s website and social media channels.
