A car packed with trays of Ferrero Rocher chocolates was seized by police after a shoplifting incident at Broughton Park.

Officers were called to the shopping park on Wednesday evening after reports of theft.

By the time they arrived the suspects had left, but teams from Roads Policing Taskforce units Rota 2 and Rota 3, along with the Neighbourhood Policing Team, located them nearby.

Both were arrested on suspicion of theft.

Although the pair initially told officers they did not have a car, police found a vehicle linked to them close by.

Inside the boot they uncovered a large haul of goods, including dozens of trays of Ferrero Rocher chocolates, Lenor fabric conditioner, Lindt chocolate boxes, toiletries, women’s clothing and underwear, reading glasses and reusable shopping bags.

Sharing details of the incident, officers made a tongue-in-cheek reference to Ferrero Rocher’s well-known 1990s advert, which featured the line: “Monsieur, with these Rocher you are really spoiling us.”

North Wales Police South Flintshire said both suspects were remanded and later appeared before the courts, where they were handed conditional discharges lasting two years.
