Residents invited to have say on Flintshire Council housing strategy

Flintshire County Council has launched a consultation on its draft Housing Strategy for 2025–2030, setting out how the authority and its partners plan to meet housing needs over the next five years.
The strategy comes against a backdrop of rising living costs, continued demand for housing and increasing levels of homelessness in the county. It sets out a long-term vision to provide the right homes in the right locations while tackling some of the most pressing challenges facing residents.
The document is built around five priorities:
Increasing housing supply to provide the right homes in the right places
Preventing and reducing homelessness, and cutting reliance on temporary accommodation
Supporting people to access and remain in suitable homes
Developing and investing in affordable housing and social housing
Making best use of existing stock, ensuring housing mix meets local demand
The council said the refreshed strategy is designed to respond to changes in local housing needs, including the rising number of people experiencing homelessness and the growing pressure on temporary and emergency accommodation.
The consultation is open to residents, community groups and stakeholders until 1 October 2025, with feedback being used to finalise the strategy. Responses can be submitted online.
Flintshire’s Cabinet Member for Housing is expected to present the final version later this year, following review of consultation responses.
