Police seize vehicle after dangerous driving in Flint town centre

Flintshire police stopped a driver this afternoon after he dangerously cut in front of an unmarked police car, nearly causing a collision.
The driver, described by officers as a “wannabe Colin McRae,” was found to have no insurance and no valid driving licence.
His vehicle was seized, and Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) were issued.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said the incident happened in Flint town centre and highlighted the risks posed by uninsured and unlicensed driving.
The police Facebook post sparked a lively response from local residents online.
Many recalled rally legend Colin McRae, referenced by officers to highlight the driver’s reckless behaviour. One commenter said: “Haven’t heard that name in years! Spent a long time playing on that video game.” Another expressed sadness that younger motorists were unfamiliar with the rally star.
Several praised the police for their action, with one stating: “Well done get them off the streets, could easily have killed someone.”
Concerns about wider road safety issues also surfaced, with residents complaining about noisy motorbikes in Shotton and reckless electric bikes speeding through residential areas without helmets or insurance.
Discussion also touched on what should happen to vehicles seized for such offences. Suggestions ranged from crushing the cars on the spot to auctioning them and donating proceeds to local charities.
Others emphasised the danger uninsured and unlicensed drivers pose to themselves and others. One comment read: “Shocking that people think it’s OK to do this kind of thing. Even the simplest person must understand the risk they pose.”
