Police appeal for witnesses after man dies in collision on A55 near Broughton

A road traffic collision on the A55 near Broughton on Monday morning has claimed the life of a Flintshire man.

Shortly before 6.30am North Wales Police received a number of 999 calls reporting a vehicle – a white coloured BMW 118 – was in a ditch just off the A55 prior to junction 36 of the westbound carriageway.

The emergency services attended, but sadly, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
He has been identified as 46-year-old Jon Kennedy who was from the Buckley area. His next of kin and Coroner were informed.

Sergeant Emlyn Hughes of the Roads Crime Unit said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Kennedy’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We are urging anybody who may have been travelling along the A55 around the time of the collision, or anyone who may have dash cam footage to contact us. I’d like to thank all those who have contacted us so far.

“I’d also like to thank the motoring public for their patience whilst the road was closed.”
