Every year Father Christmas along with some of his helpers take the float out around the local area to provide a bit of Christmas spirit and raise some much needed funds for the Scout Group.

Scout Leaver Steve Love said;

“The Christmas float is our biggest fundraiser of the year and the generosity of the local people always amazes me.We rely so much on  fundraising to keep the Group going so we really appreciate every penny that people donate.”

Penyffordd Scout group currently sees over 70 Children aged 6 to 14 pass through the door each week and they take part in lots of different adventurous activities, many of which take place in various places across the country, so one of the most important things for the group to have is a minibus, which they are looking to replace in early 2014 as the current one is coming towards the end of its life, so that means even more fundraising than normal is required.

Group Scout Leader Bernard Gravill said;

“Our Minibus is so important to making sure we can provide a balanced programme to the Scouts. The first weekend on the float has been a  huge success, we’ve raised over £1000 already putting us on track to raising the biggest amount we ever have. I’d like to say a huge thank  you to every single person who has donated so far”

This Friday the 13th December Santa and his helpers will be visiting Hope, and on Saturday 14th they’ll be in Drury so make sure you look out for them and have your Christmas lists ready for Santa.
