Australia, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Singapore, the Czech Republic, the United States, Italy, France, Camp Bastion and now Deeside! Yes, this month sees the inaugural Wepre parkrun.

The event which started out on Bushy Park in Teddington in 2004, sees amateurs racing against themselves to beat their personal best over 2km or 5km has become a fitness phenomenon with more than 1.5 million runners participate across the globe now.

Founded by Paul Sinton-Hewitt in 2004, the idea of Parkrun grew from the initial Bushy Parkrun event into a small collection of events called the UK Time Trials and then into Parkrun in 2010.

Events now take place every week across the globe with over two million registered Parkrunners having completed over 12.5 million runs

The Wepre parkrun starts on 14 May and every Saturday from the 14th at 9:00am

Taking part is free but runners have to register before their first run.
