A man has been jailed for 16 years after committing serious sexual offences against a woman in Flintshire.

Dumitru-Robert Lactus, 27, of Welsh Road, Garden City, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Monday 29 September. He was found guilty of multiple offences including rape, assault causing physical harm, intentional suffocation and threats to kill.

Alongside his sentence, Lactus was handed an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim. He must also register as a sex offender with police indefinitely.

Detective Constable Gareth Bostock said: “Lactus subjected his victim to shocking and violent behaviour that will stay with her forever.

“I commend her courage in coming forward and reporting these horrific offences as well as her bravery throughout the judicial process.

“We will do everything in our power to bring those who inflict sexual harm to justice.

“We take every report of violence against women incredibly seriously and urge anyone who has experienced such behaviour to get in touch with us. You will be listened to and supported.”
