Maggie’s North Wales opens with £4m Steve Morgan backing

A new Maggie’s Centre has opened in North Wales, offering support for people living with cancer and their families.
The £4 million facility has been funded, designed and commissioned by the Steve Morgan Foundation. Steve Morgan, who founded and was chairman of Deeside-based Redrow Homes, set up the charitable foundation which has backed a number of large-scale projects across the region.
Built in the grounds of Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, the centre is named Maggie’s North Wales at the Steve Morgan Foundation Building. It will serve the whole region, where 4,800 people are newly diagnosed with cancer each year.
It is the second of three Maggie’s Centres to be fully funded by the Foundation. The first, Maggie’s Wirral, opened at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in 2021. A third is planned for Liverpool, with planning permission recently granted for a site at the New Royal Liverpool Hospital.
Steve Morgan, founder of the Steve Morgan Foundation, said:
“It’s wonderful to have this new Maggie’s centre open, ensuring the people of North Wales have easy access to vital cancer support and we are pleased to be able to make that happen.
“Our partnership with Maggie’s is a prime example of how we can harness our expertise and practical support to maximise the impact of our financial support.”
Dame Laura Lee, DBE, Chief Executive of Maggie’s, said:
“We are delighted our new centre in Denbighshire is open and that we are now able to support people living with cancer, including family and friends, from across North Wales.
“It’s thanks to the generosity of the Steve Morgan Foundation and their commitment to Maggie’s, that we have been able to bring our service to this region.”
