Inspector Rob Stevenson takes charge in Flintshire North

Inspector Rob Stevenson has been appointed as the new lead officer for Flintshire North, succeeding Inspector Wesley Williams.
With more than 20 years of policing experience, Inspector Stevenson previously served as the Tactical Lead for Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), where he co-ordinated the force’s response to VAWG incidents and worked to improve outcomes for survivors.
On his priorities for the district, Inspector Stevenson said his focus, alongside Sergeant Thomas Matthews, will be on listening to communities, maintaining a strong police presence, and ensuring offenders face justice.
“My focus is to ensure the communities we live in feel safe, supported and heard,” he said.
“That means regular engagement, listening to concerns, and acting on feedback. I’m committed to delivering a quality service and making sure offenders are brought to justice. Ultimately, I want Flintshire North to be the safest place to live in North Wales.”
Inspector Stevenson, 41, began his policing career at 18 as a Special Constable. He became a full-time officer at 21 and was first posted to Anglesey, where he was named Probationer of the Year.
His career has taken him across North Wales, including roles as Community Beat Manager in Connah’s Quay, Neighbourhood Officer in Wrexham, Tutor Constable, Patrol Sergeant in Mold, Custody Sergeant in Wrexham, and Force Development Officer.
He later returned to Wrexham as District Support Sergeant before taking up his new post in Flintshire North.
Now back in Deeside, Inspector Stevenson said he welcomes the chance to lead a team in a community he knows well.
“I have a strong team here who are committed to delivering on all of my priorities,” he said. “I’m passionate about frontline policing—supporting victims and ensuring offenders are held accountable is at the heart of what I do.”
