HyNet pipeline plans to be shown at Aston Park event

Liverpool Bay CCS Ltd is inviting residents to a public drop-in session in Deeside later this month to discuss plans for the HyNet Carbon Dioxide Main Onshore Pipeline.
The event will take place at Aston Park Community Centre Aston (CH5 1UA) on Tuesday 21 October 2025, between 4pm and 7pm.
The session will allow residents to view detailed maps of the proposed pipeline route, learn about construction phases and environmental assessments, and speak directly with members of the HyNet project team.
The HyNet Carbon Dioxide Main Onshore Pipeline is designed to transport captured carbon dioxide from industrial sites across north Wales and the north west of England to Liverpool Bay, where it will be stored permanently in depleted offshore gas fields.
The pipeline route through Flintshire will run from the Point of Ayr Compressor Station near Talacre towards Stanlow, with key installations planned near Flint, Northop Hall, Mold Junction, Rock Bank and Babell.
The UK government recently granted a Development Consent Order for the pipeline, allowing construction and operation to proceed. In April 2025, ministers confirmed support for the wider Liverpool Bay Carbon Capture and Storage project as part of a £21.7 billion national investment in clean energy infrastructure.
Among the industrial sites expected to link into the HyNet network are Padeswood Cement Works near Mold and Connah’s Quay Low Carbon Power, which could provide new opportunities for low-carbon employment in Flintshire.
HyNet, led by Liverpool Bay CCS Ltd and energy company Eni, aims initially to capture 4.5 million tonnes of CO₂ per year, rising to 10 million tonnes by 2030.
Liverpool Bay CCS Ltd said the Aston Park session will “give the local community the opportunity to ask questions and find out more about the HyNet Carbon Dioxide Main Onshore Pipeline.”
