Broughton shopping park is marking Mother’s Day with a weekend of giveaways and fundraising, teaming up with Marie Curie to hand out hundreds of pounds worth of freebies while supporting a good cause.

Between Friday 28th and Sunday 30th March, visitors to the shopping park can pick up daffodils and vouchers for popular brands including Primark, Costa Coffee, Cineworld, Clogau and Schuh. The giveaway will run from 9am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday, and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.

The event is being held in partnership with Marie Curie, whose volunteers will be at the centre throughout the weekend collecting donations to help fund end-of-life care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses.

Alan Pruden-Barker, centre manager at Broughton, said: “As many of us look forward to spending time with friends and family this weekend, we wanted to help spread some joy and give back to our visitors with an exciting giveaway.

“As well as hundreds of daffodils, we’re giving away hundreds of pounds worth of vouchers for some of our most popular brands such as Primark, Clogau and Pizza Express.

“We’d encourage everyone to come along to bag a treat for the special person in your life, and if you can, don’t forget to donate to our charity partner, Marie Curie, to help them continue their amazing work both locally and across the UK.”

Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with illnesses such as advanced cancer, dementia, and motor neurone disease. The charity says donations raised locally will go towards helping patients and families across Wales and beyond.

Victoria Hardy, Senior Community Fundraiser at Marie Curie, said: “We’re very grateful to our long-term partners like Broughton who provide such valuable support for our fundraising efforts.

“We’re looking forward to heading down to the centre this weekend to get involved in the celebrations and treat some lucky people to some lovely flowers and vouchers.”

The event is part of a wider partnership between Broughton and Marie Curie, which recently included support for the charity’s annual Great Daffodil Appeal held on St David’s Day. The Appeal encourages people to donate and wear a daffodil pin to show support for those affected by terminal illness.

Marie Curie also offers support to anyone struggling with grief or caring for someone this Mother’s Day. The charity’s support line is available on 0800 090 2309.
