Headway Flintshire relaunches brain injury support service in Mostyn

A support group for people affected by brain injury in Flintshire has relaunched.
Headway Flintshire helps people living with an acquired brain injury, an injury to the brain that happens after birth, along with their families and carers.
The relaunch was marked with a community event at Abakhan in Mostyn.
It brought together brain injury survivors and their families, care agencies, Flintshire Local Voluntary Council, Flintshire County Council’s homeless prevention service, Gamlins Solicitors and other local organisations.
The group is one of more than 100 branches of the national charity Headway, and offers practical help and signposting to other services.
Its support includes befriending, buddying and mentoring, drop-in sessions, and help for families and carers.
Flintshire County Council Chair, Cllr Mel Buckley, attended the relaunch and said the event held personal significance.
Cllr Buckley said: “As an ABI survivor myself, I understand first-hand how essential it is to have access to not only practical support, but genuine understanding.
“Headway Flintshire provides just that, and is a real lifeline for local people and their loved ones.”
Steven Scollins, Chair of Headway Flintshire, said: “The relaunch of Headway is an important step in strengthening local support for people affected by brain injury.
“We’re proud to have supported the relaunch event at Abakhan, working alongside partners to improve access to vital services across Flintshire.”
The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 1pm to 3pm at Abakhan Café on Coast Road, Mostyn.
