Four men arrested following a planned policing operation in Rhyl on Monday night continue to be questioned on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and possession of a firearm.

The men were arrested when a vehicle was forcibly stopped in an operation that followed an incident in Rhyl High Street earlier in the day.

DI Chris Bell said: “We appreciate that the community have been concerned by this incident. We would like to thank the public for their patience and assistance as our investigation continues.”

First reports began to emerge around 9pm on Monday evening with images posted on social media showing armed police units responding to an incident, Wellington Road has been cordoned off.

Concerned residents have taken to social media with suggestions that gunshots had been heard.

Police issued a statement in a move to reassure the local community and quash social media rumours of a shooting in the area.
