A major burst water main has caused flooding on Old Aston Hill, forcing the closure of a large section of the road as Welsh Water engineers work to repair the damage.

Residents reported seeing a large amount of water cascading down the hill earlier this morning, flowing towards the A494.

Welsh Water has said that supplies to homes and businesses in Ewloe, Queensferry, Shotton, Mancot, and Hawarden have been affected, with some experiencing low pressure or no water at all.

The utility company has confirmed that the fault has been located, and repairs are now underway.

Welsh Water expects supplies to be fully restored by late afternoon, with work continuing throughout the day.

A spokesperson for Welsh Water said: “We are aware of a burst on our network which is affecting water supply in this area. Our teams are working as quickly as possible to repair the issue and restore normal service. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The repair process involves several stages, including securing the site, fixing the pipe, and reinstating the road surface.

Welsh Water has advised affected residents to run their cold kitchen taps once supply is restored to clear any discolouration.

For vulnerable customers, the company’s Priority Services Register is available to provide alternative water supplies where needed.
