Deestriders runners tackle tough races in UK and Europe

It was a weekend of incredible endurance for Deestriders Running Club, with members taking on challenging races across the UK and Europe.

Ultrabericus and Stravicenza 10k – Italy

Nige Parr, representing Team She Ultra and Team Beautifully Brutal, completed the Ultrabericus in Italy—an intense 65km ultra-marathon with 8,000 feet of elevation—in an impressive 10 hours and 20 seconds. In a remarkable feat of endurance, he then ran the Stravicenza 10k the very next day, finishing in 53:25.

Chester 50 Ultra

On Saturday, Anthony Barron and Grant McGowan tackled the Chester 50, marking their debut at this demanding distance. Anthony clocked an excellent 10:46:16, while Grant, who took on the challenge to mark his 50th birthday, described it as one of the best and worst gifts he’s ever received—completing the race in an epic 13:12:20.

Border League – Capenhurst

Several Deestriders delivered standout performances at the Border League Capenhurst event, with four runners achieving personal bests (PBs):

Barcelona Marathon

Deestriders were also in action in Spain, with Gary Martin finishing the Barcelona Marathon in 4:13:19 and Trevor Tommy completing it in 4:35:45.

From ultra-marathons to PBs and international marathons, it was another weekend of outstanding achievements for the club’s runners.
