Deeside’s ACAI Outdoorwear teams up with Women in Sport for charity walk on Moel Famau

Deeside outdoor clothing company ACAI has announced a World Mental Health Day campaign to encourage women to get active outdoors.
The North Wales-based brand, which specialises in women’s outdoorwear, has teamed up with charity Women in Sport for a 10-day digital campaign running from 6 to 15 October.
The initiative will share real-life stories highlighting how outdoor activity can boost wellbeing, with the aim of reaching one million women.
On Friday 10 October, ACAI staff and customers will join a 6km charity walk at Moel Famau in the Clwydian Range.
The event will be led by Ray of Sun Adventures and Emily from Trigs and Teeth, with participants including Rebecca Hopkins of Balance Me skincare, Sarah Bellow from Women in Sport, and members of the ACAI team.
ACAI founder Kasia Bromley said: “The statistics speak for themselves: 33% of women aged 41 to 60 are not getting the recommended amount of exercise. One in five women that age exercise for less than 30 minutes a week and 30% of women said they are less active since starting menopause. Yet exercise builds confidence, courage and self-belief. Just two hours in nature a week increases happiness and improves body confidence. I know this from my own experience, and I hear this from our ACAI community.
“We hope our latest campaign, and the hike on World Mental Health Day, will encourage more women to embrace the outdoors.”
The company will donate £10,000 to Women in Sport as part of its continuing support for the charity. ACAI previously worked with the organisation on its 2020 “Bright Friday” campaign.
Since 2022, ACAI has also run the Outdoorsing Club, which offers free, year-round group events for women to experience nature with support from qualified outdoor leaders.
More than 50 events have been held so far across the UK.
