Deeside-based Iceland launches free kit scheme for grassroots football teams

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

Grassroots football teams have eight days left to apply for a free home kit through a campaign run by Deeside-headquartered supermarket Iceland Foods.

The “Kits for Kids” campaign is open to junior teams across the UK and closes at midnight on 12 May.

Iceland Foods, which has its head office at Deeside Industrial Park, said it would provide brand-new home kits to hundreds of young players this summer.

Coaches, parents and club volunteers can nominate a team through a form on the company’s website.

The form asks for contact details, the team’s name and a short written entry of around 100 words explaining why the team would benefit from a kit upgrade.

Iceland said its decision to run the campaign was prompted by research it had commissioned among parents.

The company said 86 per cent of parents told its researchers that rising living costs had made it harder to support their child’s football dreams.

Applications can be made at iceland.co.uk/kits-for-kids.

Full terms and conditions are published on the company’s website.

The campaign is running ahead of a summer that includes the FIFA World Cup, which begins on 11 June and is being co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
