A junior football team from Connah’s Quay has launched a crowdfunding drive in a bid to raise much-needed funds .

Connah’s Quay Tigers are in desperate need of cash and are looking to raise £1000 to fund work on the Dock Road ground in an effort to make it more secure and safer for children to play on.

The club’s volunteers have been working tirelessly to get ground and pitch to a suitable and safe standard for around two years.

The area is blighted by constant vandalism, there have been reports of quad bikers riding on the pitch and discarded needles and drug paraphernalia left lying around, it’s meant the pitch and surrounding site is unsuitable for the clubs teams to play on.

Currently, the Tigers have to use other teams facilities and hiring pitches to play matches.

The club has just one team playing there at the moment because of safety fears for younger children.

The proceeds of this crowdfunding drive will go towards installing two industrial type fences in an effort to keep vandals away from the pitch.
