In November 2013 David won a British Guild of Travel Writers award for a family-travel feature, taking his two young daughters on a Barbie cruise.

David who wrote the Lonely Planet Wales guidebook, will be running his first workshop at the Glynne Arms in Hawarden from 9am to 12.30pm on Friday October 17 and again in February 2015.

The first workshop, called How do you get your story idea into print, aims to help participants get their work published in newspapers, magazines or online.

The workshop in February will aim to help writers find their voice as a blogger.

David said:

“A lot of people have great ideas for articles, and would like to develop them for publication, but they don’t have the insider understanding of how the media industry works, how to approach editors and how to turn those ideas into commissions.

“The concept behind this first course in October is to explode some of the myths and, through expert practical advice based on 15 years as a working freelancer, help aspiring writers to get their work into print.”
