ASDA recalls Beer Battered Cod Fishcakes over plastic and metal fears

ASDA is recalling Exceptional by ASDA Beer Battered Cod Fishcakes over a warning that the product may contain pieces of plastic or metal.

The recall covers 290g packs with use by dates of 1 May, 2 May, 3 May, 4 May and 5 May 2026.

The barcode on the affected product is 506308998296.

The Food Standards Agency issued a Food Alert on 30 April 2026 confirming the recall.

The agency said: “This product may contain pieces of plastic or metal, which makes the product unsafe to eat.”

Customers who have bought the fishcakes are being told not to eat them.

ASDA has told shoppers to return the product to their nearest store for a full refund.

A receipt is not required.

Recall notices will be displayed at point of sale in all ASDA stores selling the product.

No other use by dates of the product are affected.
