Airbus secures IndiGo deal for 30 additional A350

IndiGo has placed a firm order for 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft, converting an earlier memorandum of understanding signed in June into a confirmed deal.
The agreement takes IndiGo’s total orders for the A350 to 60 aircraft, marking a major step in the airline’s long-term strategy to expand its international network and enter the long-haul market.
Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive of IndiGo, said the order “solidifies our commitment to expanding our international footprint and offering unparalleled connectivity to our customers.”
He added: “This firm order for 30 additional A350-900s is a testament to our confidence in the future of Indian aviation and our strategic partnership with Airbus. These aircraft will play a pivotal role in connecting India with more destinations across the globe.”
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales for Airbus Commercial Aircraft, said the A350’s range, fuel efficiency and passenger comfort align closely with IndiGo’s growth plans. “We look forward to supporting their expansion into new long-haul markets,” he said.
India is the world’s fastest-growing aviation market, with rising household incomes and international travel demand driving rapid fleet expansion among domestic carriers. Airbus said its partnership with India, which spans more than 50 years, has supported the growth of the country’s civil aviation sector.
The A350-900 is Airbus’s most advanced long-haul aircraft, offering up to 25 per cent lower fuel burn and carbon emissions compared with previous-generation widebody jets. It can already operate using up to 50 per cent sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with all Airbus aircraft targeted to be 100 per cent SAF-compatible by 2030.
At the end of September 2025, Airbus had received more than 1,400 orders for the A350 from 63 customers worldwide.
