Labs by Transport for Wales has named accessible incident-reporting platform Inclutech the overall winner of its sixth accelerator programme, securing the start-up a contract to develop its technology for the Welsh transport network.

The announcement came during a Demo Day event held at Techniquest on 15 July, which showcased nine pioneering start-ups. Over 10 weeks, innovators developed solutions addressing challenges in transport and media, including AI-driven security and zero-emission travel.

Barry Lloyd, Head of Innovation at Transport for Wales, said: “Cohort 6 proves that Welsh innovation can solve global transport challenges. The calibre of ideas we’ve seen spanning AI, inclusive design and zero-emission aviation shows that the Welsh transport system has a bright future ahead.”

Inclutech’s founder and CEO, Becca Hume, was awarded the top prize for her non-verbal incident-reporting platform that allows vulnerable passengers to discreetly flag safety concerns in real time.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be selected as the overall cohort winner,” said Ms Hume. “This recognition highlights the urgent need for more accessible, streamlined reporting tools across the rail network, and we’re excited about the potential to continue this work together.”

Two other awards were also presented: Best Pitch went to Barcud for a zero-emission electric seaplane concept between Holyhead and Cardiff, while Spirit of the Programme was awarded to Cavefish AI for its emotional-intelligence AI engine enhancing passenger experiences.

The accelerator cohort also featured a range of other projects, from AI safety models targeting violence prevention to innovative rail scheduling platforms.

The event at Techniquest emphasised the commitment of Labs by Transport for Wales to foster technology innovation and support the Welsh Government’s goal of a modern, sustainable transport network.
