Mold’s annual Santa Dash will return on Sunday 14 December, supported this year by Lovell Homes.

The festive 2km run begins at 11am from Daniel Owen Square, with hundreds expected to take part dressed in Santa suits provided with entry.

Organised by the Mold & Buckley Round Table, the event raises funds for local groups and community activities.

Lovell Homes, which recently opened its Bryn Castell development on New Brighton Road, is sponsoring the 2025 race.

The company said it wanted to support local events that bring residents together.

Anne-Marie O’Doherty, regional sales director at Lovell Homes, said: “To make somewhere feel like home you need more than just bricks and mortar. It is all about the community and the connections made with those around you, which events like the Santa Dash help to form.

“Supporting this year’s race is a wonderful way for us to give back and celebrate the festive season with the local people here in Mold, and in turn help to strengthen those community ties even further.”

In 2024, the Santa Dash raised £2,000 for local good causes, and organisers expect an even greater turnout this year.

Robin, owner of local gym FarmFit, will lead a group warm-up before the run, while Ian Gibbons MC will provide commentary and updates as runners make their way through the course.

Colin Devitt, trustee of the Mold & Buckley Round Table, said: “As well as offering up some festive fun and a chance to get some exercise, we’re pleased to be able to continue to support our local area by getting people together. All adult entrants get a Santa suit, and all finishers receive a mince pie and medal, so it’s a great way for everyone to get involved, whether they’re a seasoned runner or just want to do something different this year.

“We have a really busy schedule at Christmas, as we also help Santa on his sleigh as it travels around the area, and feed lots of people on Christmas Day, but the Santa Dash is becoming a firm favourite for us. We’re thankful for the support of Lovell, helping us to continue this wonderful event in our local festive calendar.”
