Meet the 9-year-old Flintshire boy who walked a marathon for charity

A young boy from Ewloe has completed a marathon-length walk to raise money for a local children’s hospice.
On 29 October, nine-year-old Charlie Perry-Hargreaves walked 26 miles along the North Wales Coastal Path from Prestatyn Sailing Club to Old Colwyn and back, raising £900 for Hope House Tŷ Gobaith.
Charlie, who lives with chronic asthma and has regular check-ups at the Countess of Chester Hospital, wanted to raise funds to help other children living with serious conditions.

The challenge took nine and a half hours, with Charlie joined by his mum Victoria and twin sister Tabitha for part of the route.
Victoria said: “He started around 6am and covered 52,000 steps to finish just before dark. We are so proud of him, and he has raised £900 with more still coming in.”
At the finish line, Charlie was met by grandparents, dad Gareth, Tabitha and younger sister Sofia, who greeted him with a handmade banner and a trophy.
Nicky Eyes, area fundraiser for Hope House, said:
“Wow, what an inspirational effort by a brave young man. Well done Charlie and Victoria, we’re so grateful for the wonderful amount raised. Every penny will go directly to supporting local children and families living with a life-threatening condition.”
Hope House Children’s Hospices provide specialist care and support for over 750 children and families across Shropshire, Cheshire, North and Mid Wales.
