Man jailed for three and a half years over Connah’s Quay sex attack

A man who sexually assaulted a woman as she slept in Connah’s Quay has been jailed for three and a half years.
Vincent Davies, 54, of no fixed abode, admitted a charge of sexual assault by penetration following the incident, which took place in August.
Mold Crown Court heard that as the victim lay asleep in bed, Davies assaulted her in the middle of the night.
When confronted the following day, he apologised to the victim before fleeing.
He was arrested soon after and later charged and remanded into custody.
On Thursday, 23 October, Davies was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
He was also made the subject of a 10-year restraining order to protect the victim and placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Davies was further barred from working with children or vulnerable adults.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Daniel Jones said: “This incident has had a significant impact on the victim who was incredibly brave in coming forward to report this horrific crime.
“Davies knowingly committed this offence while the victim was asleep and unable to consent. She was in a place where she should have been safe.
“We will do everything in our power to bring those who inflict sexual harm to justice. We take every report of violence against women incredibly seriously and urge anyone who has experienced such behaviour to get in touch with us. You will be listened to and supported.”
