Man jailed for six years for running Chester drug line

A drug dealer who used a false identity to run a cocaine supply line in Chester has been jailed for six years.
Meltjan Isufi, 34, of Wilkinson Street North, Ellesmere Port, was sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Monday 20 October after pleading guilty to several offences, including being concerned in the supply of cocaine, acquiring criminal property and knowingly entering the UK in breach of a deportation order.
He also admitted possessing a false identification document.
Police launched an investigation in December 2024 after a man was arrested in Chester and officers found cocaine, cash and other evidence linking him to drug supply.
Although that man was not charged in this case, Isufi’s DNA was recovered from one of the drug packages.
Two days later, on 25 December, CCTV operators alerted officers to suspicious activity on Milton Street in Chester.
Footage showed a suspected drug exchange, and police stopped a car near Grosvenor Bridge shortly afterwards. Three bags of cocaine were found in the vehicle, and a passenger told officers he had just bought the drugs in Chester.
Enquiries uncovered a text message advertising cocaine for sale, traced to a phone number belonging to Isufi, who operated under the name ‘Anton’.
On 19 September 2025, police executed a warrant at Isufi’s home address in Ellesmere Port, where he was arrested. Officers seized £17,585 in cash, cocaine, and a mobile phone showing an established customer base of more than 800 people.
A fake Greek identity card was also found, which had allowed Isufi, an Albanian national, to re-enter the UK despite a deportation order issued following a previous drug supply conviction in 2019.
Detective Constable Richard Connolley said: “Isufi had already been convicted of drugs offences and deported from the UK. However, he chose to re-enter the UK illegally using a false identity document to facilitate the supply of illegal drugs in Chester.
“His operation was sophisticated, and he supplied drugs on a daily basis, but Isufi underestimated the tenacity and dedication of our officers.
“Thanks to their investigation, a significant drugs line was brought to a stop, and Isufi is now behind bars for a considerable amount of time.
“The message is clear – if you come to Cheshire to commit crime, you will be caught, and you will be held accountable for your actions.”
