Deestriders tackle Marathon Eryri and Dublin Marathon

It was another active weekend for Deestriders Running Club, with members competing across North Wales and Ireland before rounding off with a community night run in Flintshire.
At the Marathon Eryri, known for its challenging course around Snowdonia, several club runners completed the 26.2 miles in impressive times. Rayko Kolev finished in 3:59:58, followed by Christine Cammillare in 4:01:51, Nige Parr in 4:10:47, Paul Lyth in 5:04:16, and Les Price in 5:37:39.
At Eirias Park, Deestriders’ cross-country teams turned out in strong numbers. In the women’s race, Michelle Bowes led the club home in 21:10, followed by Claire Harper (28:25), Alannah O’Brien (31:14), Sue Witty (34:50), Jane Blackwell (34:57), and Beverley Goodson (36:07).
In the men’s event, Ben Rowlands recorded 32:08, Paul Lewtey 39:29, and Darren Low 47:11.
Meanwhile, in Dublin, Maria Evanson made her marathon debut with a time of 4:24:00, overcoming a long-term knee issue that flared up in the later stages of the race.
To coincide with the clocks going back, Deestriders also organised a social evening run on Sunday as part of Welsh Athletics’ “Own The Night” campaign, aimed at promoting safe running during darker months. The event was well supported with 31 participants, and a walk option was available for those preferring a steadier pace.
