Careers Wales offers apprenticeship guidance in Flintshire

As part of Apprenticeship Week Wales, Careers Wales is encouraging residents in Flintshire to explore the range of opportunities available to help develop skills and gain hands-on experience in the workplace.
With support from Careers Wales advisers, people of all ages can access tailored guidance on how to find and apply for apprenticeships across 23 diverse sectors, from creative industries to green skills.
Apprenticeships offer a practical way for individuals to earn while they learn, working towards recognised qualifications while gaining valuable experience. They are open to all age groups, with the latest data showing that over 70% of apprenticeships taken up in Wales in 2022-23 were by people over the age of 19.
In Flintshire alone, 900 people started apprenticeships during that year, contributing to the 4,370 new apprenticeships recorded in North Wales. Across Wales, 22,880 apprenticeship learning programmes were started, marking a 14% rise from the previous year.
Nikki Lawrence, chief executive of Careers Wales, said:
“Apprenticeship Week Wales is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate apprenticeships, and the value they bring to learners, employers, and the wider Welsh economy.
“Apprenticeships provide a pathway for people to gain qualifications while working and earning a wage, and can be a valuable route for those looking to develop their skills.
“Our careers advisers can provide tailored support for people of all ages with exploring apprenticeships, as well as the full range of alternative options available to them.”
For those interested in apprenticeships, Careers Wales offers a range of resources, including an online apprenticeship finder to help people search for roles across various sectors. The top five learning programmes in Wales in 2022-23 were:

Apprenticeships are also a viable option for those considering a career change later in life. In 2022-23, more than 4,500 apprenticeships in Wales were taken up by people aged 40 and over.
