Bridge collision causes rail delays on Wrexham-Bidston route

Transport for Wales has reported disruption to train services between Wrexham General and Bidston following a road vehicle colliding with a bridge between Penyffordd and Hawarden.
All lines are blocked as a result, affecting train services running through these stations. Services may be cancelled, delayed, or revised.
Disruption is expected to continue until 6.45pm on 31 July.
Transport for Wales said: “We have been made aware of potential structural problems with a bridge between Penyffordd and Hawarden.
“As a result, services between Wrexham Central and Bidston are disrupted, and train services may be delayed, cancelled, or revised through the area. We expect the incident to be cleared by 18:45.
“Please check back here for more information shortly. We apologise for the disruption caused to your journey.”
Passengers can search for live train arrivals and departures on the Transport for Wales website.
If a train is delayed or cancelled resulting in arrival at the destination more than 15 minutes later than scheduled, passengers may be eligible to claim compensation through the ‘Delay Repay’ scheme.
