Two overnight road closures planned at Ewloe as Active Travel works continue

Old Mold Road in Ewloe will close overnight tonight as the next phase of works begins for the Ewloe Active Travel Scheme.
Flintshire County Council has confirmed two overnight road closures and one set of overnight temporary traffic lights, on three consecutive nights this week.
Old Mold Road will be fully closed from 8pm tonight, 27 April, until 6am on Tuesday morning.
Liverpool Road will then be fully closed from 8pm on Tuesday 28 April until 6am on Wednesday morning.
Four-way temporary traffic lights will be in operation at St David’s Roundabout from 8pm on Wednesday 29 April until 6am the following morning.
The council said the closures were needed to allow the workforce, vehicles and equipment to operate safely.
Diversion routes will be signposted at each location.
In a statement, the council said: “Flintshire County Council is advising road users of a number of night-time road closures this week as work on the Ewloe Active Travel Scheme continues.
“As part of these essential improvements, these short-duration night-time road closures are required to allow the workforce to operate safely.
“Diversion routes will be clearly signposted, and every effort will be made to minimise disruption.”
The council added it would like to thank residents and road users for their patience and cooperation while the works were carried out.
The closures are the latest phase of works to replace St David’s Roundabout with a Dutch-style roundabout.
The design differs from a standard UK junction by placing pedestrian and cyclist crossings on each approach road rather than at the entry point of the roundabout itself.
Drivers will have to give way to pedestrians and cyclists at the crossing points before they enter the roundabout.
Footways around the junction are to be widened to at least three metres.
Toucan crossings, which allow both pedestrians and cyclists to cross on a single signal, are planned on all A494 slip roads at the junction.
