Police warn of counterfeit £20 notes circulating in Buckley and Mold

North Wales Police have issued a warning about counterfeit £20 notes circulating in Buckley and Mold, urging businesses and residents to be vigilant.
Several incidents of fake £20 notes being passed have been reported recently.
Officers are advising the public to check notes carefully for security features and to remain alert when accepting cash.
Security Features to Check
The genuine polymer £20 note includes the following features:
- See-through windows with a purple border and a portrait of the King/Queen
- Blue and gold foil on the front, and silver foil on the back shaped like Margate lighthouse
- Raised dots and a finely detailed purple metallic image containing the letter “T”
- 3D image of the Coronation Crown in a blue and pink foil patch
- Micro lettering, UV features, and a hologram
A North Wales Police spokesperson said: “We’re asking everyone to be vigilant and check £20 notes carefully before accepting them. The image on the top of our guidance (main picture) is a genuine note, while the image below shows a counterfeit example.”
Anyone who believes they have encountered a counterfeit note is advised to contact North Wales Police.
