Police warn Flintshire Audi owners after thefts

Residents Flintshire are being urged to remain vigilant following several reports of vehicle thefts across the North Wales Police force area.
North Wales Police said three incidents involving the theft of Audi vehicles have been reported in recent days.
The thefts were reported from addresses in Mold and Mynydd Isa as well as Penrhosgarnedd near Bangor.
Officers are investigating the incidents and have increased patrols in the affected areas.
In a statement, police said: “We are urging residents to remain vigilant following several reports of vehicle thefts across the force area.”
The statement added: “In recent days, three incidents have been reported involving the theft of Audi vehicles, with offenders targeting cars parked in residential streets and driveways.”
Officers are asking vehicle owners to take extra precautions and to report suspicious activity immediately.
Police have issued detailed crime prevention advice, including ensuring vehicles are locked at all times and checking that windows and sunroofs are closed.
They warned that leaving a vehicle running unattended, for example while de-icing, is illegal and may invalidate insurance if the vehicle is stolen.
Drivers are advised to keep keys out of sight and away from front doors to prevent theft or cloning.
Police said keyless entry vehicles can be vulnerable to “relay theft”, where devices are used to capture the signal from a key inside a home.
Advice includes storing keys in a signal-blocking pouch, reprogramming keys when buying a second-hand vehicle and considering additional security such as steering wheel locks, immobilisers and tracking systems.
Police also warned motorists to manually check that electronic locking has worked, as criminals can use devices to jam key fob signals.
Anyone who sees suspicious behaviour, including unmarked tow trucks acting unusually, is asked to contact police.
Further crime prevention advice is available via the North Wales Police website.
