The Nercwys Music Festival has once again proved a huge success, raising an impressive £5,500 for charity.

The Wales Air Ambulance, Macmillan Cancer Support, and NHS charity Awyr Las were among the beneficiaries of this year’s fundraising efforts.

The nonprofit event, which is held every two years, has now raised more than £25,000 for good causes since it first began in 2010.

Sponsored by over 40 local businesses, the festival features live bands, musicians, an MC, a food truck, and a bar, attracting visitors from across the region.

Festival organiser Phil Gerrard spoke about the event’s growing popularity:

“Our aim in the beginning was to put on an event that everyone could enjoy, and that has been reflected in the number of attendees. We take great pride in seeing familiar faces alongside new visitors, some from further afield.

“The feedback we receive is always amazing, which gives us the push to continue. Without the support of local businesses and those who attend, this event simply wouldn’t happen.”

Among the charities supported this year, Wales Air Ambulance received £1,650.

The service provides hospital-standard treatments at the scene of an incident and relies entirely on public donations to fund its £11.2 million annual running costs.

Vital funds for life-saving services

Debra Sima, regional fundraising manager for Wales Air Ambulance, expressed her gratitude:

“A huge thank you to everyone involved in Nercwys Music Festival. Once again, you have raised an incredible amount for local charities and the community. We are delighted to have been chosen as a beneficiary this year.

“Fundraisers like this are essential in keeping our helicopters in the air and our rapid response vehicles on the road. We truly appreciate everyone’s support.”

The festival has previously raised funds for a range of charities, including the Special Care Baby Unit at the Maelor Hospital, Teenage Cancer Trust, British Heart Foundation, and Cancer Research UK.

Local beneficiaries have also included St Mary’s Church Nercwys, Capel Soar Nercwys, and Nercwys Primary School.

Plans for the next Nercwys Music Festival are already in motion, with organisers hoping to continue their tradition of supporting vital causes while bringing the community together.
