Mountain rescue team aids injured woman on Moel Famau

A woman was rescued from Moel Famau on Saturday after suffering a lower leg injury and a subsequent medical episode, prompting a callout to North East Wales Search and Rescue (NEWSAR).
North Wales Police contacted the rescue team on Saturday afternoon, requesting assistance for the injured woman.
While the team was en route, an update revealed that the casualty’s condition had worsened.
The woman was treated on-site by Welsh Ambulance Service Trust (WAST) staff before being stretchered down the hill to an awaiting ambulance at Bwlch Pen Barras car park.
NEWSAR extended their well-wishes to the woman, saying: “We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
Volunteer-Driven Organisation
NEWSAR is a volunteer-run rescue team operating 24/7 across Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham, and parts of Conwy and Powys.
The organisation responds to mountain rescue emergencies and searches for missing persons in vulnerable situations.
Founded in 1979, NEWSAR has grown from a small group of volunteers into a highly trained rescue team affiliated with the North Wales Mountain Rescue Association.
The team also supports neighbouring areas such as Cheshire and Shropshire when needed.
A Charity Dependent on Donations
As a registered charity, NEWSAR relies entirely on donations and grants to cover its £30,000 annual operating costs.
These funds are essential for maintaining vehicles, purchasing equipment such as ropes and stretchers, and ongoing volunteer training.
For those wishing to support the team, donations can be made via the NEWSAR fundraising page, ………….click here.
