Andy Dunbobbin elected Chair of Connah’s Quay Town Council for 2026/27

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Andy Dunbobbin has been elected Chair of Connah’s Quay Town Council for 2026/27.

Cllr Dunbobbin was elected at the council’s Annual Meeting on Wednesday 13 May, with Cllr Vince Roberts elected as Vice-Chair.

He takes over from Cllr Alan Manship, who stands down after a year in the role.

During his year as Chair, Cllr Manship supported charities including Rupert’s Rainbow and Claire House Children’s Hospice, and a donation was presented to June McAnoy from Cancer Research.

Cllr Dunbobbin has served on Connah’s Quay Town Council since 2011 and was elected North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner in 2021.

In a statement issued after his election as Chair, Cllr Dunbobbin said:

“Last night I had the honour of being elected Chair of Connah’s Quay Town Council. Next May will mark 15 years since I was first elected to the Town Council, the place where my journey into public life began. If you had told the younger version of me delivering the Evening Leader around the Quay that one day I would serve as Chair of the Town Council and as Police and Crime Commissioner for North Wales, I would never have believed you.”

He added:

“Over the years, many people have told me that one of my strengths is being a good listener, and I’ve always believed public service should be about listening, understanding people’s struggles and then rolling your sleeves up to help get things done. More than ever, I believe staying grounded matters. Public life should never distance you from the everyday realities people face.”

Cllr Dunbobbin also thanked his wife Louise, his children Jess and Zack, and his wider family and supporters.
