The referee of the Welsh National League 1 game in Wrexham between Venture Community FC and FC Nomads was allegedly head butted at the end of last nights match (Tuesday 15th April)

The alleged incident, witnesses by spectators and officials from both clubs, happened at the end of the match which Wrexham based Venture lost 8-2.

One spectator told us;

‘The Venture goalkeeper removed his shirt, threw the ball at the referee followed by his gloves which hit him in his face, he then he grabbed the referee and head butted him’

The attack followed what was described as a ‘constant verbal onslaught’ by the Goalkeeper aimed at the referee and spectators, at one point its alleged he threatened to break the walking sticks of a pensioner who was watching the match.

It’s also claimed the goalkeeper made derogatory and abusive remarks to a female supporter of FC Nomads which was also witnessed by children watching the match.

Our source also said;

‘Ventures’ manager was an absolute disgrace telling his players “just to hit um” among other extreme verbal’s  – he was constantly hurtling extremely abusive language towards the referee and was continually aiming extreme language at spectators’

It is not know at the moment whether the head butting incident has been reported to the Police (we have asked!) though it emerged this morning on social media that the referee may indeed be a serving officer in North Wales Police – this is yet to be confirmed.

Acting Chairman of FC Nomads Councillor Bernie Attridge, who was at the match, has made a formal complaint to the WNL Referees secretary Arthur Pritchard, and has called for the league to report the attack to  the Police.

We are awaiting comments from Venture Community FC, Wales National League and the Welsh FA.

Updates as and when.
