Work to start on safety upgrades at Greenfield Dock

Work is set to begin next week on a programme of health and safety enhancements at Greenfield Dock.
The project is being funded through the Welsh Marine and Fisheries Fund and is intended to support the commercial cockling and fishing operations based at the dock, which contribute to the local economy.
Improvement work is scheduled to begin on Monday, 9 February 2026 and is expected to be completed by mid-March 2026.
The upgrade is also designed to improve accessibility and the experience for visitors using the dock, which forms part of the wider Flintshire Coast Park.
Councillor Chris Dolphin, Cabinet Member for Environment, Regeneration, Countryside and Tourism at Flintshire County Council, said: “This is great news for the Dock area and for Flintshire Coast Park overall.
“We want to support local businesses which rely upon Greenfield Dock and improve the visitor experience for everyone using the Dock.
“Futureproofing this coastal hub will improve health and safety, accessibility, and the balance between recreational and commercial activities.
“We hope everyone will enjoy the enhanced public realm, and we can continue to welcome users and visitors at this popular coastal hub for years to come. We look forward to seeing the changes.”
The externally funded works complement the wider vision set out in the Flintshire Coast Park Management Plan, which aims to move the area beyond its industrial legacy while supporting wildlife, sustainable businesses, jobs, volunteering and tourism along the Dee Estuary coastline.
