A warm spring spell is expected to reach Flintshire from Tuesday, with the Met Office forecasting temperatures of up to 16-17°C and increasing sunshine across north Wales through the middle of the week.

Monday starts on a mixed note, with rain moving eastwards through the day.

Brighter spells are possible in eastern areas through the morning, which includes parts of Flintshire close to the English border, before conditions become more changeable later.

Tuesday brings clearer skies and rising temperatures, with the Met Office saying skies will steadily brighten for England and Wales through the day as sunny spells develop.

Wednesday is expected to be the warmest day of the week.

Dan Harris, Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, said: “Wednesday looks likely to be the warmest day of the week for many, with high pressure dominant.”
The highest temperatures on Wednesday are expected in parts of west Wales and western England, where a weather phenomenon known as the Foehn effect, caused by east to south-easterly winds passing over higher ground, could push readings to 18-19°C and possibly 20°C.

Flintshire, in north-east Wales, is less likely to reach those peaks, but temperatures in the mid-to-high teens remain possible under sunny skies.
The warm days come with a contrast overnight.

Harris said: “There’ll be a big diurnal range this week, which is the difference between the maximum daytime temperature and minimum overnight temperature.”

Clear skies during the day will allow temperatures to drop sharply after dark, with some areas expected to experience air frost overnight.

Thursday is forecast to be dry and settled with plenty of sunshine, with temperatures cooling towards the seasonal average on Friday.
