Vote.wales website launched ahead of Senedd election

A new voter information website has been launched ahead of the Senedd election on 7 May.
The site, vote.wales, has been created by the Electoral Management Board for Wales, part of the Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru. It aims to provide voters with clear guidance about how the election works and what to expect.
According to the Electoral Management Board, it is the first website of its kind in Wales dedicated to voter information for a Senedd election.
The website includes details about who can register to vote, how to cast a ballot in person, and how postal and proxy voting works. It also outlines what support is available for people who need accessibility assistance at polling stations.
A postcode search function allows voters to see which of Wales’ 16 new constituencies they will be voting in and where their local polling station is located.
Once nominations close, the website will publish details of the political parties and independent candidates standing in each area.
The platform also explains how the Senedd operates, the policy areas it is responsible for, and which matters are reserved to the UK Parliament. It sets out the difference between the Senedd and the Welsh Government.
Further updates are expected in the coming weeks. Organisers say that, for the first time in a Welsh election, accessibility information for individual polling stations will be made available online. Political parties and independent candidates will also be able to upload their election leaflets to the site.
After polling day, full election results will be published on vote.wales.
Shereen Williams MBE OStJ, Chief Executive of the Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru, said: “An important election is coming on 7 May, and vote.wales is the place to go to find out all about it.
“We know that people across Wales are looking forward to making their voices heard at this election, but many people don’t feel they have all the information they need before they go and vote.
“If you have questions about this election, then head to vote.wales. Voting confidence starts here.”
