Two men have been arrested following a series of burglaries and vehicle thefts across North Wales and Cheshire in the early hours of Tuesday 3 February.

Police in North Wales first received reports of two burglaries in the Rhyl and St Asaph areas, where vehicles were stolen from outside residential addresses.

At around 6am the same day, officers from Cheshire Police were alerted to a burglary at an address in Chester, during which an Audi Q3 was taken.

A further report was made at 6.55am to Cheshire Police of a burglary at a property in Crewe, where a Volvo XC90 and an Audi A3 were stolen.

An investigation was launched and, following enquiries, officers from Cheshire Police’s roads and crime unit located the stolen vehicles in the Sandbach area.

After a pursuit, the Audi Q3 was stopped on the southbound slip road of the M6 at junction 15, where the driver, a 20-year-old man, was arrested.

The Volvo continued along the M6 before being stopped by officers on the A38 in Birmingham city centre. A second 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Police said both men are from the North Wales area and remain in custody on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.

Detective Constable Jack Ryder, from Cheshire Police’s Chester Proactive Policing Unit, said:
“Burglary is a deeply personal crime that can leave victims feeling unsafe and insecure in their own homes.

“In these cases, our officers were swiftly deployed to the scene and quickly traced the vehicles involved, resulting in the prompt arrest of two suspects.

“I hope these arrests will reassure residents and businesses of our commitment to tackling this type of crime, and I’d like to thank all the officers involved for their quick response.”
