Police have been at the scene of an attempted cash machine theft in Garden City

North Wales Police’s Flintshire North team said officers will remain in place until all evidence has been gathered from the scene.

The force said there is no wider concern for the community.

No further details have been released about the specific location of the ATM or when the attempt took place.

The incident came during a busy 24-hour period for the Flintshire North team, which dealt with 57 calls for service, 12 of them requiring an emergency blue light response.

Six people were arrested.

Two were held on suspicion of harassment, one for assault, two for shoplifting and one for what the force described as “a long list of domestic offences.”

Ten domestic crime incidents were recorded across the period, alongside three concern for safety calls and four reports of anti-social behaviour.

Of the 57 calls, 30 incidents were passed to officers for a formal write-up and six had been recorded as crimes at the time of the update.

No burglaries or hate-related incidents were reported during the period.

The team also addressed recent coverage listing streets in Flintshire as among the most “dangerous” in the area, with the top ten all falling within the Flintshire North policing area.

An officer said the data behind the list covered all recorded incidents, not just violent crime, and included shoplifting and neighbourhood disputes.

One street’s high ranking was largely down to two repeat offenders who had targeted the same store multiple times a day, the officer said.

Both have since been dealt with — one is on a suspended sentence and the other is serving a custodial sentence.

The officer said banning orders are also in place and demand at that location has been “significantly reduced.”
