Screwfix will officially open its first store in Deeside on 22nd October on Interlinq Trade Park in Queensferry.
Screwfix is owned by Kingfisher the same parent company as B&Q – they are set to close their Queensferry store in the new year.

Screwfix will create 14 new jobs at its new Deeside Store.

Manager, Nicola Joans is proud of the contribution the new store has made to employment figures in the region, she said:

“We’ve created 14 brand new vacancies and have employed local people from around the Deeside area.
Our new team includes people of all ages and levels of experience, but the most important requirement is that they have the right attitude and can offer superb customer service. Everyone here is really looking forward to the store opening.”

Tradesmen and DIYers are all invited to attend the Deeside Screwfix opening on Interlinq Trade Park where they can also demonstrate their professional skills in a free-to-enter screw drilling competition. The fastest time wins a 40in smart TV.

Poundworld (not to be confused with Poundland) coming to Deeside?

While B&Q prepares to withdraw from Deeside Retail Park, another national retailer is preparing to take up occupancy – Poundworld has submitted two planning applications this week for external work including the removal of timber hoardings and replacing them with a new aluminium shop front on the vacant unit next to Pets At Home.

Locally Poundworld already has stores in Broughton, Wrexham, Ellesmere Port and Chester, in total they have around 300 stores nationally employing around 6000 people.

The Poundworld concept has been a massive hit with British bargain hunters, their single price variety stores, sells most of its items for £1.

The chain was founded in 1974 by Yorkshire-based father and son team Chris Edwards Sr. and Chris Edwards Jr. and stocks over 5000 products across a variety of categories including groceries, health and beauty, toiletries, cleaning products and pet care.

Butlers New Shop Queensferry

A host of other smaller retailers have moved into Deeside or expanded their current operations notably, Butlers the family owned electrical rental store has opened a new shop in Queensferry.

Warren Butler told us the new store will have a full range of freestanding and built-in appliances from leading brands, and is an ‘extension’ of the Shotton shop.

Wok&Go the Chester headquartered noodle chain threw open its doors in Shotton for the first time on Friday evening.

The Shotton High Street based shop dishes out Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian, Chinese, and Japanese fusion flavours tossed with noodles.

Wok&Go was formed in 2007 by founder Des Pheby’s travels to New York and through his love for the aromas and tastes of the east, he wanted to “recreate the taste of Asia in a casual and relaxed atmosphere”.

wok-and-go
Wok&Go is continuing to expand nationwide and has become the UK’s number one noodle bar chain.

As well as targeting the discerning Deeside market, Wok&Go has also expanded internationally opening stores in the Middle East, mainland Europe and are looking to penetrate the US market.
