Santander confirms Mold High Street branch will close in April

Santander has confirmed that its branch on High Street in Mold will close on 28 April 2026 as part of a wider restructuring of its UK branch network.
The Mold branch, at 31 High Street, is one of 44 branches across the UK set to close as the bank responds to what it describes as a long-term shift in how customers choose to bank.
Santander said the closures would be replaced by Community Bankers, who will provide face-to-face support either from Santander Locals or shared Banking Hubs, depending on local need.
The bank said that following the changes its refreshed branch network would consist of 305 branches, alongside 111 Santander Locals operating in community venues such as libraries and community centres.
Santander Locals are staffed by Community Bankers who offer money management support and general banking help on a weekly basis. Community Bankers also attend Banking Hubs, which are shared banking spaces operated with other banks.
In a statement, a Santander UK spokesperson said: “In response to a continuing and sizeable shift towards customers using digital banking, we are making changes to our branches to better support our customers. We will continue to invest in both our branch network and our digital banking services, so we can be there to support our customers however they choose to bank with us.”
The bank said that 96 per cent of all customer transactions are now completed through digital channels, with branch-based financial transactions falling by 66 per cent since 2019.
Santander added that all customers would continue to have access to banking services through Post Office branches, with the company stating that all branches due to close are within 1.4 miles of a Post Office.
Customers who may be vulnerable will be contacted directly by phone, according to the bank, and supported to find alternative ways to bank, including telephone, digital and Post Office services.
A dedicated helpline has been set up for customers affected by closures on 0330 678 2469.
Santander said that around 291 staff across the UK could be placed at risk of redundancy if the proposals go ahead following consultation with trade unions, although redeployment opportunities would be available.
Information provided by Santander to customers explains that decisions on branch closures were based on how branches are used, the availability of nearby banking services, and the impact on staff, with the bank stating that a majority of branch customers already use other ways to bank .
