Police have issued a public warning after an increase in counterfeit bank notes being used in the North Flintshire area.

North Wales Police said businesses and members of the public should remain vigilant when accepting cash and check bank notes carefully.

Officers have advised that any suspected counterfeit notes should not be returned to the individual presenting them and should instead be reported to police.

All suspected fake notes will be forensically examined, and those believed to be involved will be interviewed as part of ongoing enquiries.

Anyone who believes they have received a counterfeit bank note, or who has information that may assist the investigation, is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101.
